If you love history and sharpening your memory but want something more fun than boring, Eraly is a free trivia game based on history. Instead of forcing you to find and memorize long lists of dates or events, this game presents you with seven events from pop culture, science, and cinema up to famous battles and inventions per day. You have 25 seconds to guess the year when the event occurred. It sounds simple, but being off by even a single decade could send your journey through time in a completely different direction.

Every day, Eraly provides the same set of questions to all players. You read a description of an event, enter your predicted year, and hit "GO" to submit your answer. After each round, the game tells you the correct year and provides a brief factoid to learn more about the event.
The fun lies in the variety of the questions. A single session might take you from the 1986 release of the film Top Gun to the 1867 invention of dynamite, and then suddenly jump to the Six-Day War of 1967. You don’t need to be a history buff to score well; your knowledge of movies, technology, or even random trivia you’ve picked up along the way can help you earn points.
Eraly uses a six-tier scoring system, with a maximum possible score of 700 across seven questions. Guessing the exact year earns you 100 points; the further your guess is from the actual date, the lower your score, dropping to 85, 60, 30, or 10 points. If you leave an answer blank, you receive 0 points. The margin of error is adjusted based on how far back in history an event occurred. An estimate off by a few decades might be acceptable for an ancient event, but for modern inventions, a much higher degree of precision is required. This mechanism ensures that each question is scored appropriately, rather than applying a rigid standard across all historical periods.
The player begins play in year 1. With each point earned, the explorer progresses through 6 ages (Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, Industrial, Modern, and Digital). You earn 700 points and arrive in the modern day. Eraly then tells you what year and era you have landed in when you are done. This makes a simple scoreboard a journey with an evolving destination, adding that extra nudge to excel a day later on.
The game also features a Wardrobe, where players can unlock items, such as scarves, coats, hats, and accessories, for their explorer by maintaining a daily play streak, achieving high scores, or providing exceptionally accurate answers.
Eraly runs directly in your web browser, on phones, tablets, or computers, with no need for app downloads, account registration, or advertisements. New puzzles are released at midnight local time. Post your results on a grid of colored tiles and link it so you can highlight your results without others seeing the answers.
If seven questions a day aren't enough to satisfy your curiosity, there is an Infinite mode that costs a one-time fee of $5, no subscription required. Short and thought-provoking, Eraly's gameplay is perfect for a daily break and a little history.
